Why This Publication Exists

Stack of nutrition reference books and a handwritten research notebook on a clean wooden desk, viewed from above in a home office setting

Draveno Letters began as a private document — a running record of what actually ended up on the table after years of reading conflicting nutrition commentary. The founding editors, both navigating the particular demands of active desk-based working lives, found that most publicly available food writing fell into two categories: overly simplified advice that ignored practical constraints, or highly technical material that assumed a research background most readers do not have.

The publication was formalised in 2022 with a single stated aim: to produce editorial content on everyday nutrition that is grounded in published dietary research, written in plain language, and useful for men navigating the particular metabolic and energy demands of life after 35. No product endorsements. No supplement sponsorship. No agenda beyond accurate, readable content.

London, 2026 — the archive now holds over thirty-six published pieces, each researched against the same editorial standard: every factual claim is traceable to a published source, every writer discloses any relevant commercial relationship, and every piece is reviewed by a second editor before it appears on the site.

"The goal was never to be comprehensive. The goal was to be correct, and to say so clearly."

— Eleanor Marsden, founding editor

The publication covers zinc-rich foods and selenium-rich foods, whole grains and fibre, protein-rich meals, daily hydration, gut-friendly foods, and the practical realities of meal planning for men who cook at home and want to understand what they are eating and why it matters.

Founding Editor

Eleanor Marsden

Based in London — joined 2022

Eleanor Marsden has spent twelve years writing about food, nutrition, and the practical dimensions of how people eat in real-world working conditions. Her background is in food science communication; she has contributed to several UK-based independent publications and spent three years as a staff writer for a print quarterly focused on sustainable food sourcing.

At Draveno Letters, Eleanor oversees editorial standards, manages the second-editor review process, and contributes the majority of the long-form nutrition articles. Her particular focus is on mineral intake — specifically zinc-rich foods and selenium-rich foods — and the relationship between whole grains and sustained energy availability for desk workers.

Commercial disclosure: Eleanor holds no commercial affiliations with any food brand, supplement manufacturer, or retailer. All source selection is made on editorial grounds only.

Contributing Editor

Tobias Ashcroft

Based in London — joined 2022

Tobias Ashcroft writes principally about the intersection of whole grains, metabolic patterns, and the practical realities of preparing nutritious meals within the constraints of a working week. He has a background in applied nutrition research and spent several years in independent food quality assessment before moving to editorial work.

His contributions to Draveno Letters address meal planning for men, portion control, nutrient-dense foods, and the role of healthy fats in a balanced daily routine. Tobias also manages the publication's source verification process, cross-referencing cited research against published dietary guidelines.

Commercial disclosure: Tobias holds no commercial affiliations with any food or nutrition product. His articles are written independently of any external commissioning arrangement.

He brings a background in nutritional science communication and has written for several independent wellness publications in the UK.

His March 2026 article on the structured morning plate was produced independently and underwent the standard double-editor review before publication on Draveno Letters.

Editorial Values

Independence

No Sponsored Content

Draveno Letters does not publish sponsored articles, paid product placements, or affiliate-linked reviews. Every piece is commissioned on editorial grounds. The publication is funded solely through reader engagement and occasional partnerships with independent food events — never with product manufacturers.

Accuracy

Source-Referenced Copy

Every factual statement about nutrient function, dietary guidelines, or food composition is referenced to a published source. Where research consensus is unclear or contested, the publication acknowledges that uncertainty explicitly rather than overstating the available evidence.

Transparency

Public Corrections

When an error is identified in a published article, it is corrected and the correction is noted publicly at the top of the relevant piece. The publication does not quietly amend content without disclosure. Readers who identify factual errors are encouraged to contact the editorial team directly.
